[singlepic=277,320,240,,right]SIX Brisbane bands have joined forces to raise money and awareness to help take the rivercity’s music to the world.

On Saturday, February 27 the diversity of the Brisbane music scene will be showcased through a gig at iconic Brisbane live music venue, The Zoo as part of a showcase for the Brisbane Sounds 2010 compilation CD.

Brisbane Sounds is a non profit project that produces an annual compilation CD of Brisbane music which is designed to highlight the quality and diversity of Brisbane music artists and increase the visibility of the vibrant Brisbane music scene.

To help launch the compilation six diverse local acts, all appearing on the CD, will present a showcase of Brisbane’s finest music.

The event will feature alt-country, hip-hop, rock, indie and folk performances from The Gin Club, The Cairos and Grand Atlantic as well as The Coalition Crew, Lion Island and Dirtybird.

As an added highlight, each band will play a cover song of another Brisbane band from an era of their choice. Brisbane music from past to present, along with the Brisbane Sounds 2010 compilation will be played between sets over the course of the night to add to the ambience of the gig.

Funds raised from the gig will go towards the distribution and promotion of Brisbane Sounds 2010, which will be available to purchase at the gig.

Following on from their hugely successful exhibition in 2009, local photography group, Underexposed will present a selected photography display from the Brisbane music scene which will surround the room and be available to purchase.
