With a prestigious award win under their belts, Brisbane’s Mexico City return to Sydney next month to support Jamie Hutchings (Bluebottle Kiss).
Mexico City will support Jamie Hutchings & His Imaginary Choir as they launch their latest single at The Hopetoun Hotel on Friday 2 October. Mark Moldre and Michael Beach will round out the night.
The visit follows the four-piece’s recent win in the Courier-Mail QSong People’s Choice Awards which saw the band take out the top prize after four weeks of voting and more than 2000 entries received from Queensland acts.
The win rounds out a big year so far for Mexico City, which also saw the release of their critically applauded second album, Brown Bird, in April.
Mexico City formed in Brisbane early this century, lifting their moniker from the name of a dockside bar in Albert Camus’ classic novel, The Fall.
Over the years, the band have performed in numerous cities and towns across Australia and supported the likes of Band of Horses, The Black Keys, The Drones, M Ward and You Am I amongst many others.
