[singlepic=281,320,240,,right]The Gin Club invite you to celebrate the release of their new record, DEATHWISH, as they launch the album in Sydney and Melbourne this week, shortly followed by a series of special intimate shows at the Troubadour in Brisbane.

The past six years has seen The Gin Club establish themselves as one of Australia’s most engaging and entertaining bands, both through their studio albums as well as their inimitable live performances. Continually evolving from their 2004 self titled debut through to their 2008 critically acclaimed double CD Junk, The Gin Club’s eight person songwriting collective made up of Adrian Stoyles, Ben Salter, Bridget Lewis, Conor Macdonald, Dan Mansfield, Gus Agars, Ola Karlsson and Scott Regan have developed their own unique and distinctive style.

The band’s live performances have become legendary, with all members singing lead, swapping instruments and harmonies, and performing everything from intimate acoustic ballads to wall-of-sound onslaughts. Whilst they defy easy categorisation, their music contains elements of acoustic folk, wide screen rock’n’roll, psychedelia, country, pop and more – all delivered with a distinctly Antipodean flavour. They have been compared to artists such as The Triffids, The Go Betweens and The Band.

Released through Plus One and Shock Records, DEATHWISH features radio favourites ‘Pennies’ and ‘Rain’, as well as stand out tracks ‘Say You Will’, ‘Choppin’ Wood’ and ‘Shake Hands’.

The whole reason why the fourth album from Brisbane’s own Gin Club works so well is because of the camaraderie, the harmony, the cohesion. Songs are chapters in books are echoes of drunken arguments are stabs at honest dénouements are finely edited stories are breathtaking slices of multi-layered musical beauty. Disparate voices pick up the trail from other owners at various points, but the feeling of cohesion never stops, not for a moment.” The Vine, Everett True

It’s hard to tire of Deathwish when every song is like a completely different chapter, written by a different author who’s been influenced by divergent tastes.” mess+noise, Andrew McMillen

Join The Gin Club as they launch DEATHWISH in Sydney and Melbourne this week, plus three very special shows at the Troubadour in Brisbane where each night will feature a different set list, including songs requested by fans and a different line up of outstanding support acts.
